Bass Flats & Beyond Charters covers a vast area of Southeast Florida. For those in-state, this means that a trip can be close and convenient to your home. For those out of state, in one weekend, we can cover everything Florida has to offer. Bass fishing on Lake Okeechobee, Snook and Tarpon fishing in Stuart, and Jupiter.

We can do it all at Bass Flats & Beyond. The boats are trailered. This allows unparalleled mobility and flexibility in the fishing charter business. Instead of keeping the boats at a marina, which locks us into a specific area, we can move with the fish and the weather. When you book a charter, your captain will work to find the location closest to you that has the best possible fishing.

CAPTAIN JOHN LARSEN

Capt. John started Bass Flats & Beyond to share his passion and knowledge with others.

John has enjoyed the Florida waters all his life. It could be said that he was raised for this. It started for John when he was six years old working at his parents dive shop, Adventure Scuba, in Jupiter Florida. John soon began guideing groups of divers along the Jupiter Highledge.

In college John became competitive in bass tournaments. At UCF John became a member of the Reel Knights bass fishing team. The competition and the dynamics of the sport taught John how much he needed to learn to progress in the sport. John has competed in tournaments all over the Southeast region, and qualified for three colligate level national chamipsonships, inculeding FLW, BASS, and Boat US.

After college John started Bass Flats & Beyond to continue sharing and educating others about the sport. John spends his days running fishing charters with a hand selected group of captains, from Lake Okeecobee to the Gulf Stream.

   Myself and three friends went fishing with Captain John Larson. We had a variety of weather going from sunny to windy and slight rain. John knew the area to fish with each weather condition and we caught at least 16 bass during our 5 to 6 hour trip. He handled all the fishing tackle, Baiting, and put us in position to catch fish on a not so great weather day. John knew what he was doing and without him we would’ve caught nothing but a cold. Thanks, John, looking forward to fishing again.

   I've always wanted to fish Okeechobee.  My wife and I booked a trip out of Clewiston, since that was where our hotel was located. The day before we went out, Captain John Larsen called and suggested a change of venue, saying that his clients had been having a lot of luck on a flat that was a short distance from the launch at Belle Glade, and that one of them had landed an 8 1/2 lb. largemouth that day. It was only 20 minutes further away, so we agreed.  It rained most of the day, and it was much too windy to sight fish.  But it was about 70 degrees, which was considerably warmer than the 34 degrees we had left up north, and the rain was no problem.  John warned us that the males were very aggressively guarding the beds, and that getting through to the big females would be a challenge.  He was correct.  We put around 20 fish in the boat, with the biggest running just over 3 1/2 lbs.  No giants, but just one look at this lake and you'll know that they are in there.  John was a pleasure to fish with.  I have been out with guides who didn't have 20 words to say all day, but he was very easy to talk to.  My wife and I have very different levels of fishing experience, but he was easily able to address each one of us at our own level.  We will definitely be going back to this wonderful lake, and if we need a guide, we will be calling John Larsen.

   Captain Larsen was outstanding, he put us on fish all day.  He was patient with us and explained what we were trying to do.  Once we took his advice we began putting fish in the boat.  I highly recommend Captain Larsen for your south Florida fishing adventure.

   Always wanted to catch a peacock bass since I started fishing. My uncle booked a last minute trip before I left the state and I got my chance. Captain John Larsen was very knowledgeable and gave us many helpful tips during our 4 hour session. Needless to say, he put us on a ton of peacocks and a clown knife fish! Most fun I’ve ever had out on the water, 10/10 would recommend.

   Captain John always seems to find the fish. He provides top of the line gear, and local knowledge. His Go get-em attitude always seems to produce. I have and will continue to recommend John for all of my offshore, inshore, and fresh water experiences. Thanks for the lifetime memories Bass Flats & Beyond.  Need more convincing? Not enough adrenaline for you? Have you ever done 65 mph in a bass boat through 3ft lake chop while out running a shelf cloud that looks like it is transporting a lightning factory?! Have you ever seen an 8ft 400lb bullshark breach the water like a submarine while attempting to eat the tuna on the end of your line?! HAVE YOU EVER BEEN NEARLY DRUGGED OUT OF THE BOAT BY A 45 INCH SNOOK THAT JUST ATE YOUR MULLET AND IS NOW PRODUCING 170 LBS OF PULLING FORCE TOWARDS THE BRIDGE PILING?!  Captain John can make it happen.  Not your cup of tea? Looking for something a little less? How about a fishing tour through the back mangrove estuaries where you can explore the wide variety of species that inhibit the back water ecosystem? How about fly fishing for speckled perch and large mouth bass in a field of blooming lilly pads, while the sweet smell of spring and sugar cane fields overtakes you?    I have been fishing with captain Larson for years in both salt and fresh water one of the best guides I've had in South Florida you really get a good deal for your money you go out on decent name brand boats well kept up with and use professional equipment if your looking for someone to help you with a specific fishing technique or an overview of a new area and what to expect he's the man to go to

   My family and I have gone out with Captain John numerous times and have always had a great time. He is always professional, and a great teacher. Being new to fishing and having my clumsy little brother around he was very patient with us and teaching us the way around the waters.
